"My work is about process and balance. In some pieces, the small bases widen out to an irregular lip much like a mountainous horizon. At the same time, many of the pieces balance smoothed surfaces and those showing the marks of the maker, some energetic, others contemplative.
When using light clay there is sometimes drama in the erratic bands of black, gray, and white. Other works – some with an occasional glaze on the inside that crackles as though it were raku fired – combine colored terra sigillata and slip on the exterior with subtle, rather than dramatic, variances in colors. The series is balanced."
